Seneca River North Little Leage Code of Conduct for Coaches

To provide the best possible learning environment for our players, no manager or coach shall, at any time:

  • Lay a hand upon, push, shove, strike, or threaten to strike an official, player, parent, manager or coach.
  • Use verbal or physical abuse upon any official for any belief of a wrong decision or judgment.
  • Be guilty of an objectionable demonstration of dissent at an official’s decision by throwing of gloves, helmets, hats, bats, balls, or any other un sportsmanship like action.
  • Be guilty of using unnecessarily rough tactics in the play of a game against the body of an opposing player.
  • Be guilty of a physical attack upon any board member, official, manager, coach, player or spectator.
  • Be guilty of the use of profane, obscene or vulgar language in any manner at any time.
  • Appear on the field of play, stands, or anywhere on SRN property while in an intoxicated state.
  • Be guilty of gambling upon any play or outcome of any game with anyone at any time.
  • Smoke while on the playing field or in any dugout during games, practice or tournaments.
  • Be guilty of publicly discussing with spectators in a derogatory or abusive manner any play, decision or a personal opinion on any players during the course of the game.
  • Speak disrespectfully to any official, player, parent, manager, coach or representative of the league.
  • Be guilty of tampering or manipulating any league rosters, schedules, draft positions or selections, official score books, rankings, financial records or procedures.
  • Challenge an umpire’s authority. The umpires shall have the authority and discretion during a game to penalize the offender according to the infraction up to and including expulsion from the game.

All managers and coaches will, at all times:

  • Treat each player, opposing coaches, officials, parents, and administrators with respect and dignity.
  • Do their best to learn the fundamental skills, strategies, teaching and evaluation techniques.
  • Become thoroughly familiar with the rules of baseball / softball, and any Little League modifications.
  • Become familiar with the objectives of SRNLL Program. Strive to achieve these objectives and communicate them to my players and their parents.
  • Adhere to the rules and regulations of Little League International and the Constitution of SRN.
  • Uphold the authority of the officials assigned to the games in which I manage / coach and will assist them in every way to conduct fair and impartial competitive games.
  • Learn the strengths and weaknesses of my players so that I might place them in situations where they have the maximum opportunity to achieve success when playing the game.
  • Conduct practices and games so that all players have an equal opportunity to improve their skill level.
  • Communicate with my players and their parent or guardian through notes, phone calls and e-mail. Young players need to learn the importance of effective communication between the league and the player.
  • Make sure that all parents are informed of changes in schedules, times and places of games and practices to avoid confusion during regular play games and lack of players.
  • Cooperate with the SRN Board of Directors in the enforcement of rules and regulations and I will report any irregularities that violate sound competitive practices.
  • Protect the health and safety of my players by insisting all of the activities under my control are conducted for their psychological and physical well being, rather than for the vicarious interests of adults.
  • Abide by the rules and regulations of the Child Protect Act of New York and notify the proper authorities if I suspect any child is being physically, mentally or sexually abused by anyone associated with SRN.
