Coaching With SRN
The parents and players of SRNLL thank you for your interest in Coaching for SRNLL. To help you make an informed decision about your commitment to coaching we have provided the following. We hope you will consider becoming part of our great coaching team!
Our program is supported entirely by SRNLL parents. The number of players and teams that can be registered in our program depends on the number of coaches who step forward from our membership. The Board of Directors elects SRN coaches once per year. Each year new and returning coaches are required by Little Leagues International & Seneca River North Little League to fill out a current 2009 LL Volunteer Application, are subject to a background check, before consideration as a coach candidate.
The basic idea of Little League is parents and sponsors working together to provide an organized, safe program for all of our children. Little League is primarily an instructional program. When you step forward to become a Coach or Team Manager for SRN, you have agreed to become part of program whose goals are based on that idea.
Little League & SRN Coaching
SRNLL follows Little League International guidelines and rules. Please visit Little League on Line at www.littleleague.org/ to learn more about coaching in a LL Baseball & Softball Program. SRN also offers coaching clinics for our coaches. To learn more about that E-Mail Jeff Virkler, coach@srnll.org
SRN Coach Responsibilities
The primary objective of an SRN coach is to be a leader. All must recognize that they hold a position of trust and responsibility in a program that deals with a sensitive and formative period of a child’s development. As a SRN Coach, you are required to be responsible for the following:
- Safety of our players & facilities
- An understanding, patience and the capacity to work with children
- Adhere to SRN Program goals and objectives
- Develop the child’s skills and knowledge of the game.
- Hold regular practice sessions throughout the season
- Provide an inspired and enjoyable environment for learning
- Communications: Coaches are the first line communicators to SRN parents.
- SRN Program goals and objectives including SRN Events, Fundraisers
- Attend SRN Division Coaches Meetings, Safety Meeting, and Coaching Clinics.
- SRN Policy: All Coaches must attend SRN Safety meeting & at least one Coaching Clinic per calendar year.
- Field care: Maintain your specific Division’s field and before and after any field used by your team
- Note: The SRN complex includes eight (8) fields and three (3) buildings.
SRNLL General Program Objectives
For all Divisions
SRNLL encourages Parents to attend games & practices. Parent participation and involvement is a key success factor with a child’s enjoyment of the baseball/softball season as well as his or her success in learning the fundamental skills of the game. We encourage all parents to practice at home with their child.
The SRN Program is an instructional program. To achieve each Division’s development goal, all teams will provide a practice schedule prior League play. Player’s participation at practice is essential to their development and promotion to next level of play.
