The Executive Staff of District 8 Little League has mandated the following Code of Conduct for all Umpires participating in the District 8 Travel League Program.

District 8 Code of Conduct:

No Umpire Shall:

  • At any time, lay a hand upon, push, shove, strike or threaten a Coach, Player or Spectator.
  • At any time, be guilty of any verbal abuse, either directly or indirectly, toward any Coach, Player or Spectator.
  • At any time, use profane, obscene or vulgar language in any manner.
  • Display impatience or be perceived as aggressive, confrontational, hot-headed or short-tempered.
  • Create unnecessary friction or be responsible for having escalated a situation.

An Umpire Shall:

  • Be calm, professional, tactful, firm, in-control, fair and impartial.
  • Know and follow all of the rules and regulations of the District 8 Travel League program.
  • Understand their role as a steady, calming influence on the game.
  • Listen to coaches if discussions are reasonable and non-emotional.
  • Calm volatile situations while keeping control and managing them.

Any violations of this Code of Conduct could require the umpire to appear before the Executive Board. Any violation could also result in expulsion from the program, if deemed necessary by the Executive Board.
